La pellicola, di breve durata, è un adattamento della vera storia di Bobby Rubio, regista e autore Pixar. Rubio ha deciso di raccontare con le sue animazioni la sua famiglia e in particolare suo figlio Alex. Crescere un figlio autistico è diventata, oltre che una sfida come genitore, anche uno stimolo per raccontare una storia fantastica e coraggiosa.
